Often we read in the New Testament scriptures of something taking place in order to āfulfilā something from the Old Testament scriptures. Our English word āfulfilā lends itself to the ideas of āpartial fulfilmentā or ādual fulfilmentā or even āmany fulfillmentsā.
The author questions whether the Greek verb can lend itself to such usage. He suggest that when we read of something being āfulfilledā in the New Testament, it means that a āfullerā meaning has been given to the Old Testament passage, that there is āfilling upā with regard to that particular passage. It is something being made āfullā in realization or accomplishment of a purpose.
